Tips on Maximizing the Battery Life of Your iPod
The iPod is one of the most popular and in demand devices today. With its ability to store hundreds of thousands of music files and play it while you are on the go, it will keep you entertained wherever you are.
However, you have to remember that the iPod still relies on battery to power it up. Every now and then, you will need to recharge your iPod's battery in order for you to continue to enjoy it. The iPod battery is made of lithium polymer that is rated to do 500 or even more charging cycles, which means that if you recharge your iPod every other day, you will be able to charge for about three years.
Of course, you want your iPod battery to last as long as possible in order for you to enjoy it more and avoid the hassle of paying a lot of money for replacement batteries. So, here are some tips that you can use in order for you to let your iPod battery last a very long time and get the most out of your money.
Recharge Every Two Days!
The first thing that you should remember is that you should never let the battery die out completely. Never get it to fully discharge, which means that you shouldn't use it until the battery dies out. No matter how much you use your iPod, you need to at least recharge it three times a week in order to prevent the battery to go flat. So, if you have to go out of town for a month or go on a vacation, you may want to bring your iPod with you and its recharging kit in order for you to frequently recharge it. You are going to take your iPod with you when you go on vacation anyway, right? Just remember to recharge it every two days of using it.
The next tip to maximize your iPod's battery life is to reduce the demand for battery power. There are quite a lot of ways to do this. The first is by playing your music by playlist or by album. Try not to hop from one track to another as this will make the internal hard drive in your iPod spin faster, which will mean more power usage.
Do Not Use WAV or AIFF Music Files!
As much as possible try not to use WAV or AIFF music files. Instead, use MP3 or AAC or any other iPod supported music files that are compressed or smaller in file size. If you use uncompressed or larger files, the hard drive will work twice as hard, which will mean quicker battery drain.
You may also want to try minimizing the use of your backlight or try completely turning it off. You can also set your backlight to automatically turn off in a specific amount of time. You can either set your iPod backlight to remain turned on for 2 seconds to as much as 20 seconds. You also have the option to never turn off your iPod backlight, which is not recommended. If you need the backlight, try to minimize its usage by setting it in the 2 second automatic backlight shut down.
These are the things that you need to remember about saving battery power in your iPod. By following these tips, you can be sure that you will be able to prolong your iPod's battery life.
